Run, run, run...

Honoring the body, mind, and spirit... that's what makes running so beautiful. Racing is about meeting up with a mass of uniquely different people sharing one mission... to get there. We all toe up to the starting line with goals, hopes, and fears. We may finish at different speeds and different strengths but in the end we've all traveled the same path together making the journey our own.
It's confusing as to why anyone would want to try and destroy such a powerful humanizing event but I choose to continue finding joy in the journey.

I had 4 friends who raced in Boston last Monday.  Luckily, they were wicked fast and had all completed the marathon by then.  One of my really good friends was with her little boy by the food tent when it happened.  She is still in shock and I hope she can find peace with running again.  It was so nice to welcome home our 4 Joplin runners safe and sound last week.

I had two races in the last two weeks.  On the 13th I had a triathlon.  It was so cold that we ran it in reverse... run, bike, and then swim.  My swim was horrible as I was so tired but I still managed to claim 2nd place.

This last Saturday was a girls getaway weekend with some of my friends.  We ran a half-marathon in Olathe, Kansas. One of my friends who ran Boston decided not to come with us.  I understood but she was greatly missed.

My dear friend, Jillian.

I'm in the yellow tank.  A nice cool 32 degree morning!

My next half marathon is May 18th for the Joplin Memorial Run honoring the victims from the Joplin tornado two years ago.  Time to get training some more.  :)
